PC Magazine Gives Panda Platinum Internet Security

High Marks in Antivirus Comparative

"it was more successful in cleaning and blocking spyware than any of the other suites were. In fact, it outperformed all but the best two of the standalone anti-spyware products we tested.”

PC Magazine has ranked Panda Platinum Internet Security 2005 the second best security suite in the world with the best anti-spyware component overall.  Platinum Internet Security received a total of 4 out of 5 points - one of the best ratings by the prestigious US magazine.

According to the magazine, the strongest points of the product were listed as:

bulletAntivirus updated frequently
bulletTruPrevent blocks new threats
bulletFirewall protects against port scans
bulletUnauthorized Internet access
bulletParental control forbids inappropriate sites
bulletFeatures well integrated in control console

The weakest points of the competition’s products were as follows:

bulletAuthentium Curtains for Windows 1.60: Global rank 3 points.   Firewall's port protection inconsistent; no protection against leak test techniques; spyware remover can't remove all offenders.
bulletBitDefender 8 Professional Plus: Global rank 2,5 points. Antispam lets too much spam into inbox and filters only POP3. Firewall does not block hack attacks from outside, and the firewall program control is easily fooled. Protection is disabled during updates.
bulletF-Secure Internet Security 2005: Global rank 3,5 points.  Antispam filters only POP3 mail and misses too much spam. Firewall with maximum protection interferes with some operations. Parental control is not user-specific. SP2 balks ActiveX help system.
bulletMcAfee Internet Security 2005 7.0: Global rank 3 points. Firewall won't protect against "leak test" attacks, antispam accuracy is still not great. Parental-control accounts are separate from Windows log on.
bulletNorman Internet Control 5.7: Global rank 2 points. Firewall's prompts intrusive and confusing; firewall doesn't block leak tests; firewall easily disabled; parental control configuration awkward; parental control does not work; suite not well integrated.
bulletNorton Internet Security 2005: Global rank 4,5 points. User interface becomes sluggish at times. Antivirus tool may report viruses that have already been neutralized. Privacy control lists sensitive information in plain text.
bulletTrend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005: Global rank 2,5 points. Confusing security-console interface. Firewall's default protection misses port probes and unauthorized programs. Antispam lets through too much spam. Antispyware performs incomplete removals. Private data protection omits information sent via AIM.
bulletZonealarm Security Suite 5.5: Global rank 4,5 points. Antispam can't process messages already in folder.
